Inner Child Work in NYC
Therapy to reconnect with your inner child, release old pain, and build self-acceptance.
Your inner child has waited a long time to be seen. Inner child work offers a compassionate, attachment-informed path to heal old wounds, reduce anxiety and shame, and rebuild self-trust—online across New York & Florida.
What Is Inner Child Work?
Inner child work is a gentle, evidence-informed practice that helps you reconnect with the younger parts of yourself that may still carry pain, fear, or unmet needs. These parts often show up as anxiety, self-criticism, or difficulties in relationships, even if the original experiences happened long ago.
Instead of pushing these feelings away, we create a safe space to notice them with compassion. By listening to what your inner child needed—and still longs for—you can begin to bring comfort, understanding, and healing to places that once felt neglected.
This work is not about reliving the past in detail. It’s about tending to the emotions and needs that continue to shape your life today, and learning to meet them with kindness rather than judgment.
How Inner Child Work Helps
Your inner child has carried both strength and pain for a long time.
In therapy, we honor the resilience that helped you get here, while creating space to tend to what still feels unmet.
Through this work, you may:
Heal old wounds from childhood experiences and family dynamics with compassion
Ease anxiety, shame, or self-criticism that trace back to early life
Strengthen your sense of self-worth, inner safety, and resilience
Develop more authentic, supportive, and fulfilling relationships
Access greater self-compassion, playfulness, and joy in daily life
My Approach
In inner child work, we begin by honoring the strengths and resilience that carried you this far. At the same time, we gently make space for the parts of you that still feel young, unseen, or overwhelmed.
I draw from AEDP (formerly Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), an evidence-based, attachment- and emotion-focused approach. AEDP emphasizes safety, compassion, and experiential healing—all of which create the conditions for inner child work to unfold naturally when those younger parts appear in therapy.
Rather than only analyzing the past, we work in the present moment—through the emotions, sensations, and longings that live in your body today. Step by step, you can begin to offer your inner child what may have been missing: comfort, protection, and unconditional acceptance. As these parts receive the care they longed for, many clients experience a deep sense of relief, connection, and emotional healing that extends into their present life and relationships.
