Frequently Asked Questions.

Why do I need therapy?

People embark on their therapeutic journey for a multitude of reasons. Some recognize that certain behaviors or patterns are no longer serving them well and desire change. Others find themselves grappling with overwhelming emotions that impact their work, studies, and relationships, leaving them feeling trapped. Then there are those who approach therapy out of curiosity, seeking to enhance their lives and overall well-being.
Taking the step to work on oneself or seek assistance requires courage, yet it can lead to significant emotional growth, improved social and emotional skills, and an expanded range of possibilities.
Through therapy, individuals can empower themselves and enrich their lives.

How do I find the right therapist?

Embarking on the journey to find a therapist can feel daunting, but rest assured, you've already taken the crucial first step by beginning your search. Now, it's about reaching out and engaging in conversations with potential therapists to assess your comfort level, despite any initial nervousness. Feeling heard, understood, and establishing a sense of connection are key factors to consider.
Research indicates that the match between therapist and client significantly influences the effectiveness of therapy.
Therefore, I strongly advise those seeking therapy to take advantage of initial consultations and speak with several therapists. This allows you to gauge whether the therapist's approach, expertise, and personality align with your needs, alongside considerations such as cost and availability.

During our consultation, I'll walk you through my approach and address any questions you may have. This time is dedicated to clarifying your choices and ensuring mutual compatibility.
If needed, I'm more than happy to provide referrals tailored to your needs.

How often would we meet?

I typically schedule weekly therapy sessions with my clients. This regularity enables us to steadily build emotional resilience, enhance emotional skills, and track your progress effectively. Research suggests that weekly sessions often lead to faster improvements compared to less frequent appointments.

As we progress in our therapeutic journey and you develop greater capacity, we may transition to bi-weekly sessions and eventually to monthly sessions before reaching our termination or graduation phase.

When do I “graduate” from therapy?

The journey of therapy begins with your goals and aspirations for growth and change. My role is to provide support as you work towards achieving these goals and eventually graduate from therapy.

For some individuals, noticeable improvements and a sense of well-being emerge after a few months, despite occasional setbacks. Others may discover deeper complexities that require ongoing exploration over a longer period.

Throughout our sessions, we'll regularly assess your progress, discuss any changes you're experiencing, and identify areas for further improvement.

Ultimately, the decision to end therapy is yours to make. It's not uncommon for both clients and therapists to recognize the accomplishments and transformations achieved, leading to a mutual agreement to conclude sessions.

Rest assured, therapy isn't meant to be a permanent fixture in your life. In my experience, those who approach therapy with determination and commitment often experience accelerated progress and are better equipped to graduate from therapy sooner.

Do you offer a short-term therapy?

Yes, I offer a time-limited psychotherapy consisting of 16 sessions, alongside long-term psychotherapy, to accommodate varying preferences for commitment duration.

Having participated as a clinician in the AEDP™ Research Project, I'm experienced in this model, where clients undergo 16 sessions and answer questionnaire after each session.
