Emotion-Focused & Somatic Therapy
An experiential, attachment-based approach grounded in AEDP psychotherapy.
What Is AEDP?
AEDP psychotherapy is an experiential, attachment- and emotion-focused approach that emphasizes safety, emotional processing, resilience, and healing within a supportive therapeutic relationship.
Rather than focusing only on symptom management or intellectual insight, AEDP helps you stay with emotional experience in a way that feels manageable and supported. Through this process, new emotional and relational experiences can emerge.
In our work together, we may notice emotions, body sensations, images, impulses, memories, or shifts in how you experience yourself in relationship. These experiences can become pathways to deeper understanding and change.
A central part of AEDP is the experience of not being alone with what you are going through. Within a relationship that feels safe and supportive, difficult emotions can be explored more fully, while new experiences of connection, resilience, and self-understanding begin to develop.
At the heart of AEDP is the belief that people have an innate capacity for healing, growth, and connection when the conditions are safe enough for that capacity to emerge.
How This Therapy Can Help
This approach may be helpful if you:
Understand your patterns intellectually but still feel stuck in them
Struggle with anxiety, shame, or chronic self-criticism
Feel emotionally disconnected, numb, or unsure of what you feel
Carry attachment wounds or painful relationship patterns
Appear high-functioning while feeling overwhelmed inside
Want therapy that goes beyond coping strategies and symptom management
Why Experiential Therapy?
Insight is important, but insight alone does not always change how we feel.
Experiential therapy invites us to work with what is happening in the present moment—not only what you think about your experience, but how it is felt emotionally, physically, and relationally.
This can help create new emotional experiences that are not simply understood, but actually felt and integrated.
