 My Approach

I value a holistic, integrative approach to help individuals restore their inner strength and secure sense of self.
I also honor the wisdom of our body, emotions, heart and mind and integrate them all in our healing journey.

My therapy style is experiential and collaborative, and is informed by a healing-oriented, attachment-based, emotion-focused psychotherapy model called AEDP™ psychotherapy (see my version of “what is AEDP psychotherapy?”).

I respect your decision to seek help and work around your emotional difficulties.
With your permission, I would like to go deeper in a "dark place" together with you, even though it can be quite scary and uncomfortable. The process of feeling "the feelings" is not always easy, however, we will eventually come out to the other side, which will make you feel empowered, lighter and more energized.

​We will pay close attention to your physical sensations, emotional reactions and internal dialogues. We can also utilize various senses including imagery, curiosity and playfulness in our exploration.

Sessions are online and can be conducted in English and/or Japanese.

During our initial phone consultation, I would like you to ask any questions and see if this is a good match.
When you decide to work with me, we will set up our meeting schedule.
I normally work with my clients on a weekly basis, which allows us to get to know each other and build our relationship in order for us to get to your deep core issues.
For an intake session, I would recommend to have a 60-min session and so you can take time to dive into the new experience.

 
 

Before your First Session

Once we set up an appointment, I will send you a confirmation email.
Before our first meeting, please fill out the following documents and return them to me.
I would like to let you know there is a “video recording consent,” which asks your permission to record a session.
This is voluntary and the sole purpose is to bring the best possible outcome.

 

Cancellation Policy

After our first meeting, we will set a weekly session schedule that is reserved just for you.

A client is expected to attend each scheduled session on time.
Since your appointments involve the reservation of time specifically for you, which also affect my time and other clients, a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for cancelling and rescheduling an appointment.
I appreciate more than 24-hour notice when possible as I can make use of that time.
Therefore, if you should know in advance that you will not be able to attend our session, PLEASE let me know ASAP so that I have time to fill your slot and can put another client in your space that may need it.

I understand that life happens and everyone is juggling various tasks and responsibilities.
So I will make every effort to reschedule appointments when enough time is given.
However, less than 24 hours notice or no-show results in a charge for the FULL SESSION FEE.
This means you are responsible for the fee which is normally paid by your insurance company.

Upon rescheduling a session, there will be 2 sessions in one week (original weekly session plus rescheduled session).

Frequent cancellations (3 or more in 6 months or 2 consecutive) and/or missed appointments (no show) will result in the termination of treatment.
